A raw and honest view behind the curtains of GWG’s creator, Jillian’s experience going through and coming out of a marriage with an abusive partner, the Army’s involvement (her husband is an Active Duty MSG), and the actions of our first responders and judicial system in regards to domestic violence in her experience. Included are written experiences, videos of the abuse in action, excerpts from her written journals, and the video journals Jillian used as her confidant when she felt she did not have a person she could safely confide in. This is an incredibly personal section, but Jillian found peace, understanding, and validation of her feelings and thoughts by seeing other survivors and victims being brave enough to be vulnerable and open.

I had just arrived in El Paso, Texas after having been stationed in Hawai’i for three years when I saw the feeds on my Facebook about the murder of Dana Alotaibi along the H-3 highway in Hawai’i. There was a large amount of chatter about Alotaibi and her ex-husband, Marine Corp Sergeant, Bryant Tejeda-Castillo in chat-boxes across platforms. May 24, 2023 “The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GOA), often called the ‘congressional watchdog,’ is an independent, non-partisan agency that works for Congress. GAO examines how taxpayer dollars are spent and provides Congress and federal agencies with objective, non-partisan, fact-based information to help the government save money and work more efficiently.” In 2021, GOA released a report analyzing: the military services’ efforts to prevent and respond to domestic abuse.
